Hi everyone. I realize that the majority of list-readers are color
management wizards, concerned with issues far beyond my scope of knowledge,
but...
I'm a graphic designer responsible for basic prepress preparation, and
in-house poster printing to an HP2500CP large-format printer. We're
upgrading to OSX.2, and I don't have any idea how color calibration will
work. In OS9, I've used a Spyder to calibrate my Lacie 21" monitor, and the
monitors of office mates. My sense is this software/device isn't going to
work in OSX. And I think I read that it's not possible to take the profile
made in OS9 and port it to X. In any case, I'm looking for a cheapish
long-term solution to color calibration. 100% precision isn't important,
but 85% precision is. What do I need to buy to calibrate the monitors? (We
have access to a spectrometer to build printer profiles, but I'm concerned
about the monitors)
If someone could offer some advice, and recommend a coherent site (other
than apple's) where I can study this, I'd very much appreciate it.
Thanks,
Emily
