Neat neat ... when panning an image masked by a crop, the crop shows full color and the masked areas show desaturated color. Cropping was never easier.

Got to see if those folks ripped out the gray pasteboard in proofing mode...

Seen from QuickDraw GX long ago in digital history this is deja vue. Transparency is the natural metaphor for the emissive monitor just as knock-out is the natural metaphor for the reflective print with it's layered fatty offset inks. OpenType is a classical case of the victors reinterpreting history: Smart fonts were part of GX and Adobe and Microsoft didn't invent the concept. Alan Haley of the International Typeface Corporation put a lot of work into GX and once said that a good idea doesn't die, it just hibernates.

3.5" floppies - Apple
daisychained storage - Apple SCSI
hot pluggable daisychained storage - Apple FireWire
unique hardware addresses (any computer or printer anywhere can always be found) - Apple

...

OS level ICC API - Apple
OS level support for databased fonts with line layout for scripts closer to their calligraphic roots than our 500 year old economized typographics - Apple
Document-centric computing - Apple

So many good ideas, so few whose origin is remembered.
