Neil--

I have a 2-year old PowerBook G3 (bronze keyboard, Lombard model). I run a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2040u off it, calibrated with OptiCal and the Monitor Spyder. I love it!

I run it at 1280 x 1024 at 75Hz and don't see any flickering. Several lower resolutions are available, including an 85Hz choice at 1024 x 768.

How about an [already on site] Mitsubishi 22 (2040U) - run at - say
1024 x 768, would the onboard video handle it at a reasonable refresh
rate (80 plus) - and millions of colours - of course? Or would a 19 CRT
be the maximum practical - would 80Hz be achievable???
