Hi all
i just upgraded to PM4.0 and have not been able to make a good profile
yet,its been a week and still nothing i have made is comparable to my
profiles made with 3.1.5.im having a problem with deep dark colors,say blues
greens and dark rich wood tones that flatten out / desaturate when
converting to cmyk.(these tone are not out of gammut )if i go back and use
my older profiles they work fine.i have tried many combinations of GCR 1 , 2
,3 and logo classic vs chroma +.chroma + looks closer to my old profiles but
still not there.i have tried the default setting and large profiles.black
width is at 100,everything i have tried with black with below 100 looks
terrible,desaturating black / dark colors. i have read my targets with 2
spectrol scans (6.02 and 3.5) im trying for something like a GCR 2 or 3 340
total ink ,black start point around 30 or 40 .looking at the profiles in icc
profile viewer they look good,on test images they look good but when you
throw a real live job at them the go to #$%^.they almost look like they are
doing a bad perceptual conversion, but no shape,just desaturated to an ugly
point.when doing a convert to profile i have tried recol / percetual
different cmms my default is ace / recol until i get a out of gammut problem
the switch to perceptual.the heidleberg cmm looks better but not there
either.and now for the best part of this whole mess is that my 3.1.5 dongles
are useless so now i cant go back..does anybody have any ideas ? looking for
help before i seek professional help for myself ( i think i going nuts )
