Hi ColorSync folks - My initial calibration/monitor profile made with
OptiCal was very good, giving me a proof to screen match like I've never
seen before. Two weeks later I went to re-calibrate the display and the
result was a yellow cast over everything, almost like a yellow
exaggeration, especially with skintones. I've tried everything I can think
of short of a clean reinstall of the System software. I tried deleting all
of the profiles I had made with other products, made sure there was no
conflicting LUTs (Adobe Gamma is disabled), re-installed OptiCal, tried
different USB ports, trashed the monitor control panel preferences, etc. It
doesn't seem to matter what color temp I set as my target, I get the same
results (I also use PreCal to set my monitor's white point as close as
possible to target). I tried using v3.5 with the Spectrolino (to rule out
bad hardware) but couldn't get it to see the instrument (through a Keyspan
serial adapter). Version 3.5.1 seems to have dropped 'Lino support
altogether. I've noticed similar behavior with the same product (actually
PhotoCal) and a different Spyder on another of our workstations. I'm more
than a little exasperated here as there seems to be no rhyme or reason as
to what is happening. The first time I used it I got such great
results...and now I can't get back to where I was. Any suggestions or
hints?
