Ah, thanks, I'll have to try that. I found I couldn't "load" a scanner
profile in the document popup window but didn't think about using the actual
scanner window. I'll try that.

Now rumour has it that Linocolor will be ported to X.
I don't think it's a rumor. I was told by Heidelberg almost 2 years ago that
the reason we didn't get to see a Mac version was that it (NewColor) would
simply HAVE to be built for OSX. I even think I heard officially (perhaps on
this list) that sometime late last year was the time frame.

Photoshop? Heaven, on earth in Photoshop>concept dreaming.
If I had a dollar for every time I've asked Adobe for this. I've even had
conversations with Thomas Knoll about this. Sure, it's doable. But Thomas
feels that there are a few too many issues (problems) with all the various
implementations of ICC profiles (from different manufacturers) and that is
risky. In fact, all the V2 profiles found in Photoshop 6 (which for canned
profiles are excellent) were created by Thomas. Not satisfied with the off
the shelf ICC profiling packages on the market, Thomas wrote his own! I told
him I'd love to see it. Then he told me, it didn't have a UI! So the guy
knows what's going on and the idea has crossed the Adobe team's mind. But as
much as I think it would be a killer feature, I'm not sure Adobe feels it's
worth the engineering efforts (and potential issues) based on the few
Photoshop users that would use the feature. If ICC profile use takes off,
perhaps we will see it in Photoshop 11.
