Use Photoshop 6.0 to create a grayscale printer profile. Its free.
To do this here are some steps to try.
1. Create 13 step test file of grayscale patches using( in Photoshop or a
page layout program) the values in the custom grayscale setup of the PS
colorsettings.
The values are like this:
2%,4%,6%,8%,10%.20%,30%,40%,50%,60%,70%,80%,90%.
2. Print the file and then measure the 13 patches with a densitometer.
3. Place the values you just measured in the gray PS Color settings custom
dot gain option.
4. Save out the new profile with the save option in the Gray PS color
settings.
Good Luck
