Hi, this is my first E-mail question ever!
I wonder if anyone could help me?
I have just started to delve into the mysterious world of profiling
and wondered if there are any basic rules to converting from RGB
to CMYK?
There are on-line resources you can look up. Bruce Fraser has a
number of articles on
http://www.creativepro.com, there are other
articles on
http://www.hutchcolor.com and
http://www.profilecity.com.
And at
http://www.apple.com/colorsync there's a booklet that
describes how your CMYK output profile is used for separation and for
soft-proofing using the standard Adobe tools. The booklet is
controlled by a prereading group made up of Adobe, CHROMiX, FOGRA,
GretagMacbeth and Hewlett-Packard listed on page 3. Apple will join
the prereading group for the sequel as will a representative for the
'safe PDF' standards work.
