As you may have noticed from my recent posts, I've been getting pretty
frustrated in my attempt to create the "perfect" 1280 profile. My
question to you, Andrew, is this a Godsend or what? The 2200's hit the
stores late this month, I'm told. So should I put my profiling quest on
hold, or are their reasons to stick with what I've got.
I'm not Andrew, but like him I've been beta-testing the 2200. I think
he'll agree with me in telling you that you want it. The new
Ultrachrome inks are much less susceptible to shifting color
appearance under different lighting (and they don't make people look
green in daylight), and the gamut is very close to that of the dyes
in the 1280.
It's still an RGB black box, so don't expect miracles, but the papers
I've profiled so far haven't been difficult (Archival/Enhanced Matte
and Premium SemiGloss.) It's a big step up from the 1280.
