Thank you for clarifying this Rick.
I was curious as to why some users who had contacted me off-list could not
recreate the problem - I was only using quality level of 12.
This means:
1. It *is* a bug - because it is not artifacting caused by the severity of
the compression.
2. It also means that JPG is not an option for CMYK workflow because it
could be disastrous to your images.
And I guess we should be prepared for the arguments that you will have with
clients when they send images to a publication (that you have spent hours
cutting out for use on a white background) and they print with a 1 per cent
tint of three colours because they were supplied in JPG format.
