Using the native driver for the 5000.
This means the Epson 5000 is considered an RGB device. Are you using an
RGB or CMYK profile for the Epson 5000?

QuarkXPress 4.1 isn't capable of letting you specify an RGB composite
device. It was CMYK output only. So I'm not sure what sequence of events
would allow you to get good prints from QuarkXPress 4.1, and not get good
prints out of QuarkXPress 5. QuarkXPress 5 CMS does allow you to output
to RGB Composite devices, and the results I get between QXP 5 and
Photoshop 6/7 are essentially identical (few % quantization differences,
CMM differences, and PS 6/7's ability to use black point compensation).
