The problem is worse than you represent. Most one-shot digital cameras
use the Bayer filter pattern. In this configuration, there are two
green, one blue and one red filter in each 2x2 sensor area. So the
number of pixels in each color is the sensor size divided by 1/2 for
green and 1/4 for red and blue.
