I posted a question to the list several months ago with this question but
never really resolved it. I'm hoping somebody from Adobe will chime in on
this one. Its really more of an annoyance than anything else, but it just
plain doesn't make sense either. Here's the scoop.
If I do a RGB to CMYK conversion in Photoshop 7 (for instance, going from
Adobe RGB to US Web Coated (SWOP) v2, rel col intent, BPC on) and then open
it up in V5.02 I get a profile mismatch, even though the same CMYK profile
is plugged into CMYK setup. This makes absolutely no sense to me
whatsoever. I've repeated this scenario several times, my settings each
time, but with the same results.
Again, more of an annoyance because I can simply ignore the mismatch. But
still, this seems contrary to what one should expect. It certainly makes it
confusing to other people in the workflow, who by all rights should not be
getting profile mismatches.
What gives?
