Yes, a number do, including our "Colorbus Cyclone Proofer" when
the "Fidelity" option is used. Be careful though, some systems
don't reproduce the original dots, but reproduce a simulation
of the original dots at a lower LPI, or sacrifice color accuracy
when they reproduce the screen. The reproduction accuracy of the
screen depends heavily on the resolution of the inkjet used.
Something like an HP5000 isn't very useful because of its
600 dpi effective resolution, color copiers are useful
for lower LPI prints, and something like an Epson 10000
will reproduce screens up to 200 LPI, although 175 is about
the useful limit. The Epson 7600/9600's should be good at this
too. To get screen reproduction you need to hook the proofer
into the system after the image setter, and the proofer needs
to handle the imagesetter file format. Some workflows don't
screen until the platesetter, so you can't get screened
proofing easily in these situations. To handle the size
of files often involved, and the processing requirements
of resampling from the imagesetter to inkjet resolutions
usually requires a reasonably grunty computer box to run
the RIP on.
