Hi all,
Sorry for an OT question, but I have no idea where else to turn with this
query...
We have a QMS Magicolor 6100DP printer at the office. One of those nice
fully-loaded, lots of trays, duplex installed, workhorses. It's caused
quite a bit of trouble, but that's not the question here. (Anyone else
notice that it seems to collapse when doing high-volume duplex printing?
I have to call in the service guys again tomorrow. Argh. I won't even
mention all the other issues.)
When we bought the printer we took the deluxe version, assuming among
others that an internal hard disk would help speed up things. I naively
thought that you might be able to store recurring jobs on that hard disk,
and that you could print them with the push of a button. I especially
thought that spooling would be faster: the whole job could go to the
printer at once, without it having to wait for memory to become
available. Well, none of those assumptions turned out to be true. I've
called helpdesks, searched the net, read all the manuals, and I'm still
clueless.
So, to come to the actual question: what's a hard disk on a/this laser
printer supposed to doing? Did I miss something?
Thanks, Wim
