dear Mr. Euler,
normaly it isn't my intention to judge about a RIP Software, because
we produce one. The only thing I know is, if you use ICC Color
management the result depends on the quality of the used Profiles. I
found, that in most cases not the Paper Profile in Best is the
Problem. Very often the Reference Profile isn't good enough, specialy
if you try to match a Cromalin or Match Print. this has nothing to do
with the quality of this proofs, it is more a problem from the
measurement. If I try to match a Cromalin I measure 3 different
Cromalins and after this I calculate "manualy" the average. In
calculation an average of only 3 measurements the human is much better
than any software, because we can judge if an Value is correct or not.
If my profiles are good, but the proof isn't good enough I must think
about my hardware, if it is possible to reach the result I need with
this printer. The Epson 3000 is an old machine and this printer has
problems with the light tones, because the resolution isn't high
enough (droplet is to big), but you can improve this if you use a
newer machine like the new Epson SP7600 or 9600. We for ourself have
very good and stable (no fading) results with this machine.
Best regards
Ulf Grossmann
