Well, this is the ColorSync list, so I will assume you are using a Mac; PCs
do not automatically load LUTs so you really need that starp up item with a
Windows box. Given that you are on a Mac, and your profile has a LUT tag in
it (as an OptiCAL profile will) then the LUT that the OS loads at startup is
the same one that OptiCAL will load; given that you are choosing the most
recent OptiCAL built profile for your monitor profile; if you are choosing
something else, then OptiCAL (or the OptiCAL startup item) will be loading a
different profile and a different set of LUTs when you launch one of them.
But there is another issue here: monitor profiles are not set these days in
the ColorSync menu, but in the Monitors control panel, which then sets them
automatically in the ColorSync menu. So make sure you have color management
in Photoshop set to something other than ColorSync workflow, set your latest
OptiCAL profile in the monitors control panel, check in Color Settings in
Photoshop, under RGB color, by scrolling up the popdown list and checking
what is appended after "Monitor RGB-" and see that it is the name of your
latest OptiCAL profile, but be sure to set your RGB space back to AdobeRGB or
your other workingspace, not to the monitor profile after checking. After all
this, see if you still have the same problem.
