* the internal software based it8 calibration produces reddish scans
There is a way to turn off the internal calibration and profile the scanner
in an application like ProfileMaker or ColorBlind. When you are making your
crop box in the preview window, hold down the Option key. There will now be
a "Raw" checkbox next to the RGB pulldown menu. This will give you raw
"scanner RGB" with which you can use to make your profile (thank you to
Steve Agard for cluing me in on that one).
You can also go into the preferences for CQ Scan and turn off the checkbox
for "Use Default Tone Response Curve". This turns off the internal color
transform altogether. I like the previous way better because you can
selectively choose when to output raw RGB, but this works to. After you
create your scanner profile, simply plug this in as your scanner profile in
the CQ Scan prefs, or always scan in Raw RGB and apply the scanner profile
in Photoshop.
Hope this helps!
