No. All 256 levels of RGB gray (R=G=B) view neutrally on screen; generally
with no assistance, but occasionally a monitor will require a bit of special
tweeking to reach that point.

Ahh, now that *is* subjective. I get the best I can reasonably manage, and if
that does not meet the user's needs, then we look at the cost of getting it
closer still.

The grays are certainly neutral, unless we are talking about encapsulated
pigment ink, under uncontrolled lighting; the "everyday images" part is
getting rather subjective again. Lets say that I expect a workable match with
the PhotoDisc Test image; if other files vary, then that may have to do with
out of gamut colors.

Thats a backwards question; it should run: do you find you can print accurate
proofs to match your commercial CMYK? This question runs beyond calibrating
your monitor and printer, to using press emulation and gamut checking. Not
that difficult in Photoshop these days.
