Dear Marc,
So far I tested several profiling packages. I followed al indications from
TypeMaker in the UK and from you: You told me to use a measuring instrument
with a UV cut-off filter which I did. Again: With dye-based inks all
packages delivered very close results, but not with the Epson pigmented
inks.
The results with Colorblind were absolutely only good for the bin and that
is just a fact and not an accusation, it's reality which I can simply proof.

Dear Marc,
I don't think we need to wait for Seybold
see below the new functions in profileMaker 4
- Improvements of the metamerism-characteristics of printer-profiles have
been applied considering typical and selfdefinable observation-lightsources.
- An automatically detection and correction of optical-brightener in
printer-profiles has been added.
- The function Correction optical-brightener9 offers a solution for the
actual Yellowcast-problem caused by papers with optical-brighteners. This
problem is based on the deviating analysis of optical-brighteners by
colorimetry on the one hand and by the human eye on the other hand.
Colorimetry is just able to notice the blue-shift caused by an
optical-brightener, while the human eye falsely recognizes this blue-shift
as an additional brightness.
The function Correction optical-brightener9 simulates the falsely feeling
of the human eye towards optical-brighteners and converts this feeling into
colorimetrical data so that profiles generated by ProfileMaker 4.0.6 are
able to compensate the difference of the human eye and colorimetry. This
correction is based on the strenght of optical-brightener within the paper,
which is automatically detected and evaluated by ProfileMaker 4.0.6. As a
result the balance of output-profiles is visually neutral even on papers
with optical-brighteners.
The function Correction optical-brightener9 is restricted to the perceptual
rendering intent.
Based on the spectral measurement-data it is automatically detected if there
is an optical-brightener. If the intensity of the optical-brightener isn9t
high enough then the function is grayed out.
- The function Viewing Light Source9 offers the calculation of predefined
and selfmeasured illuminants into the profiles generated by ProfileMaker
4.0.6. and in this way offers an effectively solution of the
metamerism-problems caused by printers using pigmented inks.
Regards,
Udo
