Ooops, forgot one point (which also has been addressed by Terry Wise)

Don't you think that the Epson is too slow for making proofs?
For me as I necessarily have to deal with existing devices "too slow" or
"fast enough" should only be evaluated in comparison with other systems.
My Epson 7000 matches the Iris's speed (AFAIK the newer Iris Print systems
are running at the same speed). And with regard to the newer models such as
the 10000 I think that there should be some Epson printer out there which
matches one's throughput expectations.
Two other proofers I forgot to mention come to my mind:
Creo will (or already has?) come up with the successor of the Iris series,
called Veris printing at 1,500 dpi and as I heard priced some EUR 37,000.
When thinking of speed the Fuji Pictography series come to mind. They print
a Legallsized image every two or so minutes.
Hope this helps,
Jo Euler
