Photoshop CM or Color Sync

I've hearing a lot lately that using Photoshop color management with Apple's Color Sync is a bad idea; that it results in too many cooks spoiling the broth. Is this a fact? Can Photoshop CM be used in conjuntion with Color Sync, or should you pick one or the other?
