Cross platform color management

How can you maintain the color fidelity of images (in this case, digital
photos) created on a Mac platform which are brought into a PC Powerpoint
presentation? My best attempt has been to save the files in PNG format.
Otherwise images look pretty dead on the PC. How can the color be managed
across platforms and still display a decent image on the PC?
