That's the one.
I see this as a method of double checking that your calibration of the
display is a close as you can get it, by comparing your measurement data
back to what the targets data file should be.
If you have a high delta E back to a reference data text file, you might
need to make some adjustment in calibration, then go back and fine tune the
settings. As an example, the Sony CRT G420 allows for editing of the RGB
guns in brightness and contrast.
The act of building the profile is just a snap shot of the current state of
the monitor, and any 'edits' or 'tweaks' are done within the 'calibration'
or 'linerisation'
Just my opinion, not trying to tell you how it's done Steve :)
