Hi Joel,
I finally got a canvas and a paper profile for my FJ500 with the Scanvec
ColorCal using VPhoto and FMX dithering. I created them by linearizing 1st,
then printing the characterization patches through the rip with the
linearization curves in the rip. I don't have the ability to get lab values,
so I had to visually adjust the colors for RGBCMY in Advanced>Edit. My
problem is that with these profiles, I get an offwhite, sort of light grey
or yellowish fill wherever there is pure white in the image. On the G4 that
I do color correction on, I use AdobeRGB1998, and the whites read
C1M0Y1K0(Photoshop version 6.01), and I can't get the files to read OOOO,
even though I fill with OOOO. They do read OOOO for white on the G3 the I
use as my print server(it has version 6.0 installed). Anyway, the canned
Roland profiles print just fine, but the ones I have created are not usable,
so I was wondering if you may have encountered this problem and know of a
fix?
Thanks for your help,
Pat
Hmmm, for a long while I suspected it was just me. Y'know...you can
take the trailer out of the trash but...
Then I thought it was residual pond scum from the Scanvec OEM settling pool.
I watched little 1C1M1Y scum dots inhabit every profile I created
with SA's Photoprint color profiler. It must be me! I must be me!
Bitten by a radioactive Colormouse! Nipped by a genetically enhanced
Spyder! Sideswiped by a PC mutation of a LinoCMM! My suspicions were
abound.
Fearing ridicule and chastisement from the color community at large I
fled back to my cubicle and nestled up to await the next generation
of software (precious, my precious). No editor could help me! Not
even J.Steven Upton. Alas I was lost.
Then I opened up InDesign 2.0. No matter how I converted, to and
from, to and fro, the scum dot twasn't there!
So I waited.
And waited.
And waited some more.
PS 7 came last week. I opened the box.
Lo and behold! No scumdot.
Haven't finished my preliminaries yet, but is this what Adobe meant
when they said PS 7 included an ACE update?
