I've just set up a digital photography studio for a major Rug company
and it's working well. Nikon D1X, remote software, embedding RGB
Adobe 1998 on Macintosh.
The next step is to implement color management, set up profiles to
work from the desk top, primarily for the Konica 7920, for rough
feedback,
With the Fiery X3e 20C-M Color Server v. 1.01, and secondarily the
Canon 1150 with ColorPass M25 v. 2.0.
My previous experience with earlier versions of the fiery have been
unsatisfactory and the implementation on OS X looks to complication
this. I'm hoping this newer rev. of the RIP is friendlier to color
management.
They also use a quality separator, but not icc compliant, who
supplies film for various printers with good results based on
approval of a final match Print, sometimes 4-5 before final. It would
seem that the profile for transform to CMYK should be that of the
match print since press profiles are unavailable and different
printers and presses are being used as well as his film seems to be
yielding good results across printers.
Thanks for any experience with these devices.
