Their semi-mat proofs to press well.
Isn't Best's semi-matte the same paper as Mitsubishi semigloss? I
believe it used to be anyway. Does Best's new semigloss no longer
have optical brightener?
In reading info regarding Epson's new papers I noticed one that might
work for those of us looking for a commercial proofing paper. Here
is a blurb describing the paper:
EPSON Proofing Paper Commercial Semimatte
Designed with a commercial-grade base color, the semimatte surface
finish on this proofing media is ideally suited for simulating the
commercial printing applications most commonly used in high-end,
sheet-fed printed products such as brochures, collateral, book covers
and posters. This medium-weight paper is coated with exacting
standards and displays superior short-term stability when used in
conjunction with Epson professional inks.
It sounds promising (commercial grade base implies no brightener?)
but isn't available yet. The literature says it will be on rolls ,
13", 24", 36" and 42" wide. A 13" x 50" roll looks to be around
$49.00 (US).
