Sometimes. I've made very good output profiles using NO Color Adjustments. A
lot depends on the paper you use and if it's supported in the Epson
QuickDraw driver. When you start using 3rd party papers, Epson's got you.
The drivers are specifically optimized for their papers. Even with 3rd party
papers, sometimes the NO Color Adjustment still works fine. The profiling
package, number of patches and so on play somewhat of a role as well.

You may limit the ink but find the dither is so much worse than what you'd
get from Epson, it's not worth it. Then there is the route of reduced gamut
but better tonal output by using some kind of Automatic setting in the
driver.
