What does it happen? Please help
Short version:
QuarkXpress 4 color management is broken and totally unusable unless you
are willing to live with a 20 item (do not do this) check list; and I'm
not exaggerating.
Long version:
QuarkXPress says it's using the embedded profile in your image, but it's
not. The 20 point checklist is really true, and what it means is that
QuarkXPress 4 color management is so convoluted that I can't even
remember exactly what's going on unless I review a detailed set of notes
I have for about 10 minutes. Pretty crazy. I'm pretty sure in both cases
it ignores the embedded profile and uses the Default RGB profile you have
selected in color management preferences. This profile (by default) is
some really awful RGB profile, and that's probably why you are getting
bad conversions.
My recommendation is to avoid QuarkXPress 4 built-in color management.
Check out Compass Pro XT from Praxisoft; or get a batch processing
application to repurpose your files; or prepare them press/output ready
before they even get to QuarkXPress.
