Upon recommendation by Bruce Fraser, I have started experimenting with
the "PhotoEnhance4" setting and profiling in that condition with the two
resulting check boxes UNCHECKED. I've been get very nice results.
The No Color Adjustment option is sometimes OK. What it depends on is the
model of printer and the paper type setting you select. Older Epson
printers have acceptable No Color Adjustment performance. Newer ones
depend on the paper type setting. The more common paper type settings
like Photo Luster, Semi-Gloss, Glossy, etc. have extremely poor No Color
Adjustment performance. It is truly terrible.
I had experimented with Automatic which produced a more well behaved
target and subsequent prints, but there would always be some kind of
undesirable color cast in an image and it doesn't seem consistent. This
may support the theory that inkjet printer "automatic" actually means
"random."
So try PhotoEnhance4 with the two resulting checkboxes unchecked and see
if that gets you were you want to be.
