But wait, it can be even weirder.
Oddly, I've been doing some tests in the same area, printing on a 7000
with Generations4 inks,
had awful results with my admittedly low end profiling software, so I've
been exploring how to get good prints in other ways.
One can send a file through the driver with a paper type selected and
"no adjustment" in the advanced
window.
Since I'm not using OEM inks I get a slightly off print, flat and cyan.
but excellent range of saturation
of the pure colors.
Next, select paper type, move on to the "color controls" and with a few
small adjustments get a very
good print, but there is a notable lack of saturation in the pure
colors, but the print looks good.
Then, one can choose "colorsync" and have control over rendering intent,
but the "canned" profiles that come with the driver do not show up in
this window. They are accessible , however, in the "space" space.
so, you still have to choose a paper type, even though the canned
profiles are designated by paper type,
select a profile in the printer space, choose a rendering intent, and
set the advanced to "no adjustment".
Now the print has very good saturation but is exhibiting an unwelcome
color cast and the shadows are blocking up.
As my uncle once said, it's all relative.
