digital camera profiling in diverse lighting

A news organization with a number of Canon digital cameras (1D's, D 60's, D30's)
asked about the effectiveness of profiling their cameras with ICC Display or
other software. The scenes and lighting are quite varied ranging from press
conferences (with TV, tungsten, flash, and god knows what other types of light
all present), to stadiums (day and night), arenas, and occassionally a routine
daylight shot. Would they benefit, or is the diversity of the lighting too much
of a moving target?
Where possible would profiles for each lighting situation be helpful, but of
course this would also have to assume that the lighting at each location remains
consistent a factor over which they would have no control.
Thanks,
Eliot Cohen
