Gary, you can turn the simluation to "off" but that will only set the RIP to a
default state.
The color might look very concentrated and contrast.
What I do here for the local newspaper is that I create a newsprint profile
using the "Colorwiser Pro Tools".
Using either the colorwise tools or your best color software (I use PrintOpen),
generate the ICC profile and load into the Colorpass RIP.
The most important steps is to set the RIPs' "RGB separation" to "simulation"
and not "Output".
This will turn all files to CMYK simulation and you will get the paper color to
appear even on RBG file.
Another thing you might want to set is to check on the "appear in driver as".
Set the newsprint profile to "simulation 1 to 10" so that not all people will
print with a yellow base printout which they might not want.
As for Rendering style, if you select anything other than "Photographics", your
printout will look good only on "solid color". And Autocal has improved alot
comparing to the last glass calibration. but I still prefer a denstometer cal as
it get more detail on the highlight (5 to 30% area).
