Recent versions of Mac OS (including recent versions of both 9 and X) include an applescript that gives information about the embedded profile, when you drag an image file onto the applescript.

Check in the Apple Extras folder:

:ColorSync Extras:AppleScript Files:Show profile info

If you're on a Mac this is pretty simple and the price is right... -Steve
