My story: my 7700DN has severe problem regarding color, the colors are shifted to purple red and black especially in the skin and shadow areas, other than that, when using heavy weight paper, the skins had what I describe it as Desert Sand Effect (for which I'm unable to describe clearly in English or even my native language). After trying any color setting / driver combination I can think of or available to this printer, w/o success, I brought my documents printed on a DC12 in a quick print shop, why the prints are exactly what I see on my screen (Sony GDM-F520), it's so good! Not a single dot shows the problem I encountered on my 7700!!!
I went to local Xerox office (Shanghai, China), showed them the prints from my 7700 and the same doc printed on a DC12, their answer is "You should not expect the prints comparable to that of the DC12's, the reason is that the DC12 is more pricey!" I argued that the DC12 is rather old compared to 7700, the 7700 is the flagship model of its kind, why should it be worse if not better? then the guy try to convince himself that I bought the printer second hand... ... (well this is odd problem even it's 2nd hand).
Luckily Xerox has very good customer service, I've sent a package to Xerox USA which they are reviewing now, I'm waiting their solutions anxiously.
I've also tried the SAFE RAW ppd but seems nothing different from the original's on my machine, And so the printer is unable to be profiled.
Thanks,
JM Shen
