Floyd, I think the 2200/2100 and a SemiGloss paper makes an excellent
proofer. I have profiled many 1280's and 1270 and a few Canon
9000's.It is the UltraChrome inks in the Epson 2200, that make the
difference with this printer. The gamut is better in most areas - but
where is seems to help the most is in the reds.I always had trouble
getting a true press red out of an Epson. I also think that the
Yellow is less golden colour - which also lends itself better to the
press output.
If your workflow is RGB only then I would not use a RIP. Just get a
accurate profile via the quickdraw driver. I have found that the RGB
profile created via Profilemaker 4.1 is very close to my Fuji film
proof. Often I will tweak it that last 5 percent.
I would use the BEST Designer Edition RIP 2.1 if you are looking for
a easy to use functional RIP to print vector and simulate more press
situations.

The Epson site shows a RIP for the 2200, any thoughts about that, or a
