I just got myself a new printer (epson 820) and am a bit puzzled about
what is happening when printing in MacOS 10.2.2, which has the latest
driver available for the printer as near as I can tell.
Print #1
Photoshop:
* source profile is whatever the image profile is
* print profile is "same as source"
Print dialog:
* color management set to ColorSync
Print #2
Photoshop:
* source profile is whatever the image profile is
* print profile is set to the appropriate Epson supplied
profile for the media being printed on, perceptual intent
with black point compensation.
Print dialog:
* color management set to no color adjustment
My GUESS is that the results should be essentially the same, but they
are not. Printout #2 is a better match to what I see on the screen,
though #1 is pretty good too. (The sample image fits within both the
display and printer gamut.)
Can anyone explain what is different between the two print paths that
would cause a notable difference in the output?
