Yes this is surely the default sharpening settings. The Nexscan has a lot
more adjacent pixel contrast definition and a 16bit DSP so it maintains
better contones. This problem of sharpening was a problem that Heidelberg
should have looked at and corrected from the start. In no way should it be
left up to the user especially on demonstration / evaluation to figure out.
Many sales could have been lost to clients as yourself for this very reason.

Absolutely. They should have presented these scanners with more attention
to the details on how to get the most from them.
