Just as a point of reference, here are the dot gains (at 50%) calculated
from the FOGRA IT8.7/3 ISO 12647-2 data:
Glossy:
Cyan 14.2%
Magenta 17.3%
Yellow 18.3%
Black 19.2%
Matte:
Cyan 13.3%
Magenta 16.5%
Yellow 16.6%
Black 22.4%
Note: These dot gain values were calculated from the Lab measurements using
a spreadsheet I made
(
http://www.brucelindbloom.com/index.html?DotGainLab.html). This spreadsheet
performs its calculations using colorimetric densities, which work very well
because (a) the measurements used are always of *single* inks (i.e. no
overprints), and (b) the Murray-Davies equation is based on *ratios* of
reflectances.
