I'm not sure Canon is still making the 8500.
The Canon 8500 is/was pretty equivalent to the Epson 5000. Outdated and
surpassed by today's standards.
Both the Epson 2100 and the S9000 are great printers, but with small ink
tanks, no extra trays, no internal networking, and small paper capacity.
They are not considered in the same "workhorse" or "professional proofer"
category, and thus Best (and other manufacturers too) supports them in some
products ("Photo Edition" and "Designer Edition") and not in others
("ColorProof").
Which is disputable, specially given that both these devices have individual
inks (am I wrong about the Epson?) and perform top-notch. But probably the
inks last for 20-30 A3 prints, as is usual in this category.
Anyway, the "workhorse" equivalent of the S9000 is the W2200 ("Image Prograf
W2200, to be precise) that of course costs triple, but has extra trays, big
inks, network card, etc.
Myself, I would buy (will buy, actually) the S9000 for me (not eager to
spend much), but would sell the W2200 to my customers (heavy production).
