Isn't this the solid ink printer? I would consider this very unusual. I
would be suspicious of either a settings problem or a device problem.
Make sure you have a control image that you can use to ensure that the
behavior is actually changing and that it's not image specific. If it's
image specific variation, I would suspect black generation if this is
the solid ink printer I think it is. The profiles from Xerox I
inspected product no black channel - implying it is a CMY device, not
CMYK. If it is solid ink, you might try rebuilding the profile with a
0% black ink limit and black generation set to none and see what
happens.
