I was wondering what sort of problems might arise from using a black
that is restricted so much that 100% produces an open solid black patch?
In other words dots can be seen in my 100% K patch without using a
loupe.
I print with large format inkjet printers and black is always a build
anyway and also the GCR uses a skeletal black that does not begin until
75%.
Sometimes I have trouble with certain papers not being able to hold
enough ink and it bleeds and pools and when I have things restricted
enough to where it no longer bleeds, then my primaries are all
restricted so much that none of them can still produce a solid patch.
This of coarse produces unacceptable results and I can't use that media.
So, I was wondering, rather than restricting the output of all my colors
that much what if I find the points where CM and Y are still producing a
solid patch and then set the black lower and lower until I don't have
anymore bleeding?
I don't want to do this with all my papers and vinyls only the ones that
can't hold the higher ink settings. As I mentioned earlier, black is
always a build and the 400% CMYK build IS producing a solid patch.
Would something like this work? How would this affect the rest of the
profile, what problems would I look for?
I am using Onyx PosterShop 5.6.1 and a DTP41UVT to build my profiles.
Thanks.
