Is anyone (successfully) using Gimp Print drivers with Jaguar and
Colorsync profiles? Or used them and been unhappy with them.
There's no reason I can think of why there would be a problem from the
major applications since they do their own color management. GIMP Print
drivers are actually CUPS drivers, and CUPS has no idea what ICC
profiles are and doesn't tie into ColorSync. So if you use CUPS
drivers, no color management occurs at all, and there should be no
color management options in the GUI for such a printer. But you can
still profile it - print target from Photoshop, measure, build a
profile, apply the profile prior to printing, etc.
I am printing photographss with Photoshop 7 and custom profiles using
an Epson printer and Lyson inks. I would like to know what printer
settings I ought to use when building profiles with the Gimp Print
drivers?
Whatever gives you the best overall results without using any profile.
Then build a custom profile, and apply it at the application level
prior to printing (doing it in Photoshop's print dialog under Color
Management is doing it just prior to printing).
