Velvia does have a different characteristic from Ektachrome. A
midtone magenta issue with Velvia goes away when using a Fujichrome
target. While I am not a scientist, I think the CCD may see more IR
in Fuji than in Kodak. This problem can be corrected using the proper
target and target data.
Custom target data can help one achieve an accurate gradation before
building a profile. As a printer is linearized (and will be better
behaved), so can a gradation be created for better scanners. The
gradation plus the more accurate data will help achieve better tonal
separation, local contrast and overall accuracy.
Only ProfileCity->basICColor's Capture application can maintain the
custom gradation after the input profile is built. Because of this,
the results can produce best-of-class scanner profiles in combination
with a custom target. All input profiling software can be used with
standard IT8 7.2 format originals.
