Which is why RGB profiling is not a good idea for printers. period.

Too bad no support for a color measurement device. You'll have a tough
time getting consistent color output by compensating for dot gain drift
unless your profiling product offers supplemental calibration/dot gain
feature. How their CMS can determine ideal TAC and black generation without
any knowledge of the paper, ink, or ambient conditions is a leap of faith to
say the least. You have already proven to yourself that printing RGB with
your ink/paper combo won't give you a strong black.
When I asked ColorByte how they felt their CMS and RGB workflow would
compensate for different ink absorption rates of an Epson printer in Florida
or Arizona their response was that it was not an issue and ink absorption
rate would be the same. Hmm. . . .
At least with a CMYK workflow you can actually communicate how much of
each ink you want among many other benefits.
