I am not attributing to him the statements that he merely quotes (it is
not my intention to shoot the messenger):

If you can believe this, you can believe anything.
To restate this absurd marketing agit-prop: ImagePrint will generate
black as it sees fit, as opposed to how I want. Also, it will
intuitively guess what the characteristics are of the material that I
happen to have loaded, e.g. how much ink it will absorb. Additionally,
the software has a built-in sensor that detects what inks I am using, so
that it can automatically mix them to obtain the best black. On the
other hand, still according to ImagePrint, profiling software is simply
incapable of interpreting the readings of my spectrophotometers, or of
figuring out what combinations of CMYK to try in order to get nice blacks.
Dan, I appreciate your enlightening revelations. They will avoid my
wasting any time with ImagePrint.
(BTW I am sufficiently familiar with using CMY targets for profiling RGB
devices: this is what I do for our Fujifilm Frontier and Pictrostats,
for instance.)

You can't always want what you get.
