I think you are referring to the Trendsetter Spectrum and the Lotem
Spectrum. Both of these products produce a half-tone proof using the same
imaging engine and RIP for both plate and proof. This means for every dot
on the plate there is a dot on the proof.
Both of these products are produced by Creo Inc. The part of Scitex that
produced the Lotem line of products was purchased by Creo. The Spectrum
proofing system was developed at Creo. It first appeared on the Trendsetter
and was added to the Lotem when Creo took over that line. Both units use
the SQUAREspot thermal imaging technology developed at Creo.
Creo also sells the IRIS line of inkjet contract proofers.
Different markets have different requirements for proofs. Creo supports
both types of proofs and our workflow systems connect to many others.
