How would anyone go about certifying their own inkjet proofing system,
if such thing was possible? I mean, you take an EPSON 10000 with some
media. Then what? Who do you turn to? What are the criteria for this
"certification"?
If we're talking about a web-type of printer, I would go about trying
to "certify" my own proof myself, with colorimetric data, comparing my
simulations to TR-001 published data.
Self-certification almost seems like an oxymoron! I would think that
talking a printing company into accepting proofs that you've certified
yourself would be an exercise in futility. You could show them
measurement
data (that conforms to TR001) till you are blue in the face, but
unless the
proofing process has been certified by SWOP they would claim they
aren't
responsible for the color! Obviously this is a worst-case scenario, and
some printing companies are more receptive to inkjet proofs (vs.
MatchPrint, Approval, etc) than others. I'm just trying to get a sense
of
how receptive printing companies are to these lower-cost proofs and get
some real-world experiences from other people on the front end.
