If I understand your question,

Jim, thanks for your explanation! Though, It makes me think that my question
wasn't clear.
I do use in house color management from scanner to printer and a calibrated
monitor, but problems arise when I send the files out to services that
sometimes do not even know what I mean by ICC color management or ColorSync or
worse, think they use it when in fact they don't. And believe me, amazingly
there are many out there! I recently had 15'000 quad tones jammed because the
printer assistant ignored the profile when he made the Sherpa match proof. When
I saw that there was a profile mismatch, I checked his system and saw that his
settings were "PS5 default CMYK". So I converted the file into that profile so
that the second Sherpa would be right. But the press operator came back from
his holiday the following week and probably applied this or another profile
once again for the resulting colors were wrong! Today I called the Fuji lab
here to ask if I could send them files for digi-prints with ICC profiles and
they thought I was coming from the moon! They had never heard the words ICC or
ColorSync. So I uploaded some files to their web site, and from the preview I
could immediately see that from all the images, some with wide gamut profiles
and some in sRGB, only the sRGB previews did look right.
So my conclusion now is that when files leave my place, they should better be
first translated in a universal language, one that everyone uses and can
understand. And my question is what dictionaries should I use to translate the
wide gamut RGB files I am working on? sRGB IEC61966-2.1 seems to be the right
profile for digi-prints and I am suggested Euroscale Coated v2 for offset
projects when I do not know the printer settings. Would these choices seem
right and are there any other or better options? Is it right to strip the
profile off after the file has been converted (no profile option)?
Thank you again!
