RIPs/Custom Profiles and Epsons

To use something like ImagePrint or even a purchased custom profile on any of
the new Epson Ultrachrome printers, shouldn't the Epson be linearized first?
It seems to me that with every change of paper and ink, there is a drift. Do
the RIPs linearize for you?

I would think purchased custom profiles are lost with ink/paper changes
unless you can bring the Epson back to a known state. My real question is
how do you linearize an Epson?
